SOSLogs is a personal safety documentation platform. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data with care and transparency.
01 Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information when you use SOSLogs:
- Account information: name, email address, and password when you create an account
- Log entries: text, voice recordings, uploaded files, and timestamps you submit as documentation
- Phone number: if you use our SMS logging feature, we collect your mobile number
- Usage data: pages visited, features used, and general interaction data
- Payment information: processed securely through Stripe; we do not store card numbers
02 How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to provide and improve the SOSLogs platform:
- To store and display your personal safety documentation logs
- To send SMS confirmation messages when you submit a log entry via text
- To process subscription payments through Stripe
- To improve platform reliability and performance
- To respond to your support requests
We do not use your data for advertising, marketing profiling, or sale to third parties.
03 SMS Messaging
SOSLogs operates an SMS documentation service via toll-free number 1-888-799-5647.
- Opt-in: You opt in by texting our number directly. The act of texting constitutes explicit consent.
- Message types: We send confirmation replies only — no marketing or promotional messages.
- Opt-out: Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages. Reply HELP for assistance.
- Message frequency: One confirmation per log submission.
- Carriers: Message and data rates may apply depending on your carrier plan.
We do not share your phone number with third parties for marketing purposes.
04 Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Law enforcement: In response to a valid court order, subpoena, or legal process
- Imminent danger: If we have reason to believe sharing information is necessary to prevent harm
- Service providers: With Stripe (payments) and Twilio (SMS delivery) — both bound by their own privacy policies
- Business transfer: In the event of a merger or acquisition, with notice provided to users
SOSLogs is not a law enforcement agency, legal counsel, or emergency service. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
05 Data Retention
Your data is retained while your account remains active. Upon account cancellation:
- Log entries are deleted within 90 days of cancellation
- You may request immediate deletion by contacting us at admin@soslogs.org
- Billing records are retained as required by law
06 Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Export your log entries
- Opt out of SMS messaging at any time by replying STOP

07 Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), secure password hashing, and access controls. No system is completely secure — if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
08 Children's Privacy
SOSLogs is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at admin@soslogs.org.
09 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. Continued use of SOSLogs after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
